Welcome

The University of Vermont's dental residency program was started over forty years ago and continues to attract outstanding graduating dental students from all parts of the country. Our residents perform comprehensive dental care in our dental clinic, using the latest dental materials and techniques. Residents also get exposure to complex oral surgery cases performed in the operating room. Taking emergency call allows dental residents to become proficient in treating any dental emergency.

While here, residents will have the chance to interact with general dentists and specialists in the community through attending dental meetings and lectures held by dentists for residents, or by working on cases with them. One proud fact of our residency program is that approximately one third of former dental residents have stayed, and are now practicing in Vermont.

The training dental residents receive from Fletcher Allen Health Care and The University of Vermont will allow them to leave here confident and better prepared to treat their dental patients in private practice.

We believe that the experience at Fletcher Allen Heatlh Care/University of Vermont is very rewarding to the residents.  The curriculum allows the resident to become better prepared to leave here and become successful in a general practice or a specialty training program.  The faculty is committed to helping the residents obtain their full potential as clinicians.
