The Dermatology residency and procedural dermatology fellowship programs at Fletcher Allen and the University of Vermont College of Medicine provide comprehensive training in basic and advanced dermatology. Resident education is enriched by training in a high-level tertiary referral system. Led by nationally renowned clinician educators, our knowledgeable faculty are devoted to the education of excellent clinical dermatologists. And you'll benefit from a top-notch learning experience, while living in an area that offers an unmatched quality of life.
You’ll Become a Resident Expert
The dermatology residency program is staffed by five full-time dermatologists and two full-time dermatopathologists, and the entire staff here is devoted to your education and committed to your success. This means you can tap the expertise of our knowledgeable faculty, who are leading-edge medical researchers, professors and clinicians.
We offer an enjoyable and dynamic learning environment where you’ll gain hands-on experience with some of the most advanced technology in the field, including well-equipped surgical suites for Mohs surgery, infusion suites, UVB and PUVA phototherapy units, as well as a comprehensive cutaneous laser treatment facility. Residents benefit from rotations in dermatologic surgery, dermatopathology and microbiology, and the outpatient clinic here is home to an active clinical trials unit that oversees studies in clinical skin disease with an emphasis on therapeutics.
Academic Health Care in Service to Community
As a university hospital, here you’ll benefit from training in a setting that offers the highest caliber research-based expertise and clinical and teaching excellence. And because Fletcher Allen is the only tertiary center serving an area that includes one million people, you’ll see an incredibly broad range of disease processes. When you combine that diversity of clinical experience with the expertise of our faculty, you quickly begin to realize what a special learning opportunity Fletcher Allen and UVM provide.
