About Us:
The Infectious Disease (ID) Unit is staffed by six full time board-certified physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, dietician, social workers, support staff, clinical research coordinators and infection control practitioners. The staff is dedicated to patient care, teaching and research. The unit has close working relationships with the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, Fletcher Allen Health Care (FAHC) clinical laboratory and pharmacotherapy department and the Vermont Department of Health.
Clinical care responsibilities include inpatient infectious disease consultations at FAHC, patient care in the outpatient clinic and the travel clinic. The attending staff is dedicated to the teaching of medical students from the University of Vermont College of Medicine, residents of FAHC, infectious disease fellows and regional attending physicians. The unit coordinates the FAHC based infection control and antibiotic stewardship programs.
